Counselling for Teens and Youths (12+) in Squamish and Online in BC

Adolescence is a time of rapid growth, emotional intensity, and often significant challenges. We offer counselling for youth aged 12 and up, combining evidence-based approaches with genuine connection to help young people move through life’s struggles with greater resilience, understanding, and support.

We tailor our work to each teen’s unique needs, drawing from a variety of proven therapeutic models, including:

Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT): Teaching skills for emotional regulation, mindfulness, and healthy communication.

Collaborative Problem Solving (CPS): Helping teens and caregivers work together to solve challenges through empathy and skill-building.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR): Supporting trauma recovery and helping youth safely process painful or overwhelming experiences.

Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT): Helping teens better understand emotional experiences within family and peer relationships — building connection, trust, and self-awareness.

We work with teens navigating a wide range of experiences and concerns, including:

  • Anxiety, panic, and chronic stress
  • Depression, low mood, and isolation
  • Emotion regulation and impulsivity
  • Grief and loss
  • Life transitions (e.g., divorce, moving, school changes, identity shifts)
  • Trauma and adverse experiences
  • Self-harm and suicidal thoughts
  • Peer conflict, bullying, and social challenges
  • Family relationship struggles
  • School pressure, burnout, or avoidance
  • Identity development and self-esteem

In our sessions, we help teens:

  • Build skills
  • Understand and regulate difficult emotions
  • Develop tools to cope with stress, grief, and uncertainty
  • Express themselves with clarity and confidence
  • Strengthen communication and boundary-setting
  • Build emotional resilience and a more grounded sense of self

We also support open, developmentally appropriate communication between teens and the adults in their lives — parents, caregivers, teachers, and other trusted figures — recognizing that strong relationships are key to a young person’s emotional health.
